Merger Announcement!

Announcing a merged charitable organization in 2024:
Port Townsend Library Friends and Foundation

We are merging on January 1, 2024, when our separate but similar missions will become one!

Friends of the Port Townsend Library and Port Townsend Public Library Foundation, are unifying to support the library and community with more books, programs, materials, and projects than we could ever do separately.

After a year of exploration, the two boards voted at their respective November 2023 meetings, to become Port Townsend Library Friends and Foundation.

Under the merger agreement filed with the Washington Secretary of State, all responsibilities of the two organizations, including stewardship of donated funds (unrestricted and restricted), will continue uninterrupted under a single Board of Directors.

For everyday business and our website presence, the shortened trade name will be Friends of the Port Townsend Library, a name familiar to many in the community.

An alternate trade name, Port Townsend Public Library Foundation, will be retained for receiving all donations that specify the Foundation.

Here’s to the future of Port Townsend Library!
