Purpose and Vision

The Port Townsend Public Library Foundation supports the Public Library’s mission and goals through fundraising that supplements the library’s tax-based support for the benefit of our community.

What We Do

The Foundation works closely with the Library staff to determine the projects that will be most beneficial for the patrons and staff of the Library. Since 2010, the Foundation has funded more than $300,000 in capital improvements, collections and improvements to the Library’s technological capacity. Foundation funding has also helped the Library staff create and support various programs that include: literacy, science, school collaboration and community assistance.

The Port Townsend Public Library is an important part of the fabric of Port Townsend. More than 500 people use the Library each day, the highest usage for a library of its size in Washington. The projects that the Foundation supports continue to expand the Library’s role as a center for learning, cultural enhancement, and community interaction and support.
